How Solar works in California

Solar Panels Generate Power During the Day

We look at your total annual kWh used in order to build out your design. We also look to see if you have any months that had unusual energy usage and ask if you plan on using more power. We then look at your roof space and find the most efficient panel locations based on satellite imagery and advanced sunlight data. With this information, we can figure out exactly how many solar panels are required to power your home.

Battery Storage Gets You Through the Night

Batteries are based on your daily kWh usage during the winter. During the Winter, we see less total sunlight hours, so the battery becomes incredibly important to power your home. Typically a battery is sized to be over 50% of your average daily kWh usage in the Winter. If you are typically gone during the day, and you use most of your power at night time, then a higher percentage is recommended. If you work from home or are retired, then less battery storage is recommended.

"89.6% of Americans are happy they installed solar on their home."

Why get solar?

No Upfront Cost

Fixed Rates vs 7% Annual Increases

Fixed Rates vs 7% Annual Increases

85% of Solar customers choose not to pay cash. When financing solar, there is no down payment required. This program is in place because our country does not currently produce enough power, and this makes the transition to solar seamless.

Fixed Rates vs 7% Annual Increases

You are just paying a fixed rate for the equipment. The rate on a loan will not increase over time. This is much better than the utility company which has average 10% increases since 2000.

Owner vs Renter

Owner vs Renter

Solar works similar to owning a house except there is no 20% down payment required. Your utility company is your landlord that will raise rent every year whereas all Solar payments go towards equity.

30% Tax Credit

Help the Environment

Owner vs Renter

Currently the government is paying for 30% of the total cost of Solar. This is a huge incentive and can greatly lower your tax basis. If you do not pay any income tax, then we strongly recommend a PPA where we can claim the tax credit for you.

25 Year Warranties

Help the Environment

Help the Environment

All of our panels come with a 25 year performance warranty. The inverters come with a 25 year warranty. The batteries typically have a 15 year warranty, and the roof has a 10 year leaks and penetrations warranty.

Currently 19% of our country's power comes from Coal. This number will be at 0% in the next couple of decades. With EV's and new electric appliances, electric demand will increase by 30% as well. We need more clean power producers to meet those needs.

We make sure that all of our panels are black-on-black, warrantied for 25 years, degrade at 0.7% or less per year, and are made by a large company outside of China.  Currently we are offering 3 different brands of panels, and we will recommend the best fit for your home.

With Enphase microinverters, you have one inverter for each individual panel. That means if one inverter goes down, the rest will still be working. Due to the design as well, these inverters fail less than a typical string inverter.

This battery has become very popular in 2024. It offers a low cost battery backup solution. The specs on the battery are excellent as well with 13.5 kWh storage and 11.5 kW output.

How Many Panels Do You Need?

We typically give people 120% of their expected energy usage. The reason that we do this is to provide extra peace of mind. Typically one solar panel covers $20/month of your electric bill. You can figure out how many panels that your home needs by using the calculator here.
